Hello there!

Web design is a bit of a passion of mine. The first page I ever made was way back in my university days, and once I saw that “Hello World” that I’d just written in Notepad appear in an Internet Explorer page I was instantly hooked and knew that this would be something I’d want to do with the rest of my life. Fast-forward to 2021 and there are a ton of ways anyone can build a website, including someone who hasn’t had a lot of prior experience.

You’ve got a project in mind; a blog, a fan site, an online shop etc., and you’re wondering to yourself about cutting out the middleman that is a web designer and dive into the deep end and start putting together a website for those needs using something along the lines of a DIY Website service, or maybe learning how to use WordPress in a weekend and building one that way. First of all, I’m going to say that that’s absolutely a step in the right direction, and it is indeed possible to reach those you want and potentially make the sales you’ve been hoping for.

However, for most people setting down this path it doesn’t quite work out the way they wish and these projects ultimately fail, costing the owner a lot of time and (most likely) money. And also, potentially-earned money. With that in mind I’m going to give you a few reasons just why you should consider hiring a web designer.

Many of these DIY Website services offer up generic, cookie-cutter template websites to their clients. How can you be expected to stand out among your competition of you’re all using the same template with a different logo slapped on top of it? A professional web designer will be able to discuss your personal needs for the project and deliver a bespoke website, one that’ll meet and (most likely) exceed them, all the while ensuring that the most current trends in web design are followed.

In order to build you the best website they possibly can, a web designer will take the time to really get to know you and your business – what your goals are, who your target audience is and what your values are. This is an approach especially favoured by us here at SiteJacket as we pride ourselves on doing the appropriate research in order to deliver you the website you want.

Whilst designing the website around your core values are and whatever goals you have in mind, a good web designer will also will help strengthen your brand recognition by ensuring that its design guidelines are followed accordingly; using brand-appropriate colour-schemes, fonts etc, to ensure your brand’s online integrity.

You could have the most slick-looking website on the entire internet, but this alone will carry very little weight when it comes to getting ranked highly by Google or any other search engine. This can have a negative impact on your business, as you will have potentially wasted a lot of time and effort in creating the website if you have not optimised it correctly. Search Engine Optimisation is an immensely technical and ever-changing discipline that good web designers’ study regularly to ensure their clients projects never fall by the wayside. The one-two punch that is a beautiful website that has been optimised in this way means your business will be well-equipped to compete online and bypass its competitors with the greatest of ease.

Any web designer worth their salt will work alongside you every step of the way through the project ensuring you get exactly what you want. They’ll be able to offer fresh insights into what is good for your business when it comes to working online. This is an incredible boon for many businesses, especially for those who are just starting out, as it’ll allow the business owner more time to focus on the goals of the business and worry less about the more technical side that is having a website. This leads us to…

Learning the intricacies of web design, from layout design to construction to optimisation to implementation is a lengthy and complicated process. This process will be managed by your web designer from start to finish whilst you focus on the actual day-to-day running of your business. Depending on the kind of website you want designed, they may be able to save you even more time by implementing technologies on the site, such as appointment tracking going to automated online booking for example.

So, in closing, the most successful websites are the ones where a visitor comes and meets your brand and forms a lasting impression. Utilising a skilled web designer will not only give you the peace of mind that your website is the best it can currently be, but also that also that your future digital success is assured.
