YEAR

2024 - Present

SiteJacket was approached by George Mingozzi-Marsh in 2024 when he and co-founder Lily Brooke Day were forming the idea for the art community project. Both being in the art space, namely being  directly involved with the Brooke Benington Gallery located in London, they wanted to use their knowledge to grow something by creating connections among artists and a space where artists and art lovers could interact, see upcoming events, read articles and watch high-quality podcast episodes featuring interviews and more.

As a brand new undertaking, Amici needed a website that was scalable, modern and also able to be modified by their team. It was a new concept and thus had to be developed from the ground up.

Amici drafted in Laura Mingozzi-Marsh, owner of MINGO MINGO STUDIO, to design the pages of the website according to their specifications. This would speed up the design process dramatically.

The brief was as follows:

  • A fast, responsive website incorporating custom web design elements laid out by MINGO MINGO STUDIO, that would look great on any device.
  • Keyword research for SEO. Whilst this would take some time to show any movement, the website would be built according to Google's guidelines ensuring that it would receive no penalties in the future.
  • Custom post styles for editorial articles, podcast episodes and more.
  • WooCommerce integration so artists may sell their work through Amici whilst they promote their events through the project.

Along with designing the pages for the website, Laura also provided brand guidelines ensuring colour schemes, logo placements, fonts and more would align with the project's presentation.

After our inital discussion reagrding the website's purpose, intended features etc., Laura immediately set to work designing how the main pages of the website should appear. Once received, we began to build them on WordPress using BeTheme framework to ensure a fast, SEO-friendly website.

Once the main pages were locked in, we then used the branding guidelines set out to create the posts and exhibition pages and created custom templates so Lily and George (and anyone else on Team Amici) could re-use them easily to create their own posts in a consistent style upon handover.

Once the project had wrapped up, we had delivered the following:

  • A fully custom, multi-page website, built around a professional design
  • Strict adherence to branding guidelines as laid out by both Amici and MINGO MINGO to ensure brand consistency throughout
  • Custom CSS animation for the homepage's header
  • Bespoke article template creation for use by Amici staff to maintain consistency across the website and ease of creation
  • WooCommerce integration, implemented to account for Amici's business of acting as a medium for artists to sell their work

Upon launch, the team at Amici promoted the website extensively throughout their upcoming events and artist collaborations. Key elements of the website that were highlighted were the eye-catching design, ease of use in navigating the website and the layouts of the articles.

A few months down the line and Amici is doing well as a go-to hub for artist news and interviews. By combining an incredible website with the need for an independent artist community it's no wonder that Amici are ranking highly for their targeted keywords so soon, ensuring they are being found by the right people.

This fully custom website was a dream project for the team at SiteJacket. By harnessing Laura's expert designs along with the creative input from Lily and George, this website launched Amici from being an idea into something tangible, where artists and art lovers could come together and form a real community.

By placing their trust in SiteJacket, Amici have come away with an incredible website built with a stylised design and ease of use in mind, and it's the combination of these principles that will lead to their continued success.

Working with Joe and SiteJacket was a genuinely collaborative experience. They approached every challenge we raised with enthusiasm and clarity, always working hard to find smart, elegant solutions. What stood out most was Joe’s ability to explain what was and wasn’t possible in simple, straightforward terms. That open communication meant our ambitious vision was never compromised, but instead realised in a way that was both practical and user friendly.

The final site captures the spirit of our brand perfectly. Through a mix of custom animated elements and inventive design interventions, we ended up with a website that feels alive, fun, engaging, and easy to navigate. It is distinctive without being difficult, and creative without losing clarity, which is exactly what we hoped for.

Joe has a rare skill. He acts as a kind of translator between creative ambition and technical reality. He helped us understand the process without drowning us in jargon, and when our ideas pushed at the limits of what was feasible, he brought us solutions, not roadblocks. It was a true partnership and I’d recommend SiteJacket to anyone looking for a developer who is not just technically sharp but also collaborative, clear, and creatively invested.
