Stoked Surf School is an independent surf school located in Perranporth, Cornwall. Head Coach Julian Price has been teaching surfing in this location for over 15 years before starting his own business and using his experience to create Perranporth's premier surf school.
Stoked Surf School's first location was on Perranporth's High Street, but moved premises in 2024 to The Men's Institute which is conveniently located alongside the stunning Perranporth Beach. From here, Julian and his team of expertly-trained, fully qualified coaches can take anyone wishing to learn to surf directly from the school straight to the beach in a matter of minutes and provides a host of amenities to anyone wishing to take a surf lesson, hire surf gear or have a hot drink during a post-surf session.

Project Background
When Stoked Surf School reached out to SiteJacket, they were just getting established in Perranporth being based along the high street. Julian, the manager, had worked in Perranporth for a long time and gained a lot of local trust already, but he wanted to gain a solid foothold for his fledgling business ensuring that Stoked Surf School would become the go-to destination for anyone wanting to learn to surf in Perranporth.
Originally, Julian had opted for a cheap template in order to build the first version of the website, but once it was up and running he felt that it did not reflect the high-quality and professionalism he was after.
To make his vision a reality, he engaged our services to produce a high-quality website that was easy to find and would convert visitors into customers.
The Challenge
Stoked Surf School needed more than just a prettier website; they needed a tool that would support the growth of their business, especially for the first crucial years.
The brief was clear:
- A fast, modern, mobile-friendly website that projected the high-quality, professional surf school
- Local SEO to help them become established and easy to find whenever holidaymakers were in town for the season
- A sleek layout along with a detailed contact form visitors could use for getting in touch with the surf school, booking lessons or hiring surf gear
- Ongoing support to keep things up-to-date and running smoothly post-launch
Stoked Surf School already had an established logo and branding, so this needed to be incorporated throughout the website to maintain brand consistency.
What We Delivered
We began with a discovery session to understand Stoked Surf School's exact services, their ideal clients, and understand their pain points. From there, we designed a streamlined site map that focused on user journey and lead capture.
Using WordPress and the BeTheme framework, we built a seven-page website featuring the following:
- An informative homepage with clear calls-to-action
- Stoked's branding and custom fonts throughout
- Pages containing relevant keywords after conducting extensive competitor research
- TripAdvisor review embedding and schema markup to enhance visibility & trust alongside showcasing the surf school's "Traveller's Choice" award
- Custom post templates so Julian and his team can push out blog posts/updates easily and consistently to aid SEO and keep their audience informed
In addition, Stoked Surf School opted for a monthly SEO package to continue their online marketing efforts alongside a Website Care Plan, giving them access to regular plugin updates, security monitoring, performance optimisation, and monthly backups.
